About Us

For the past ten years, I’ve served as Senior Pastor of White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, an ECO congregation in Newark, Delaware. Before that, I pastored in Merced CA at Central
Presbyterian Church, so in many ways this move feels like coming home to California.

For the last eight years, I’ve also chaired the Ministry Partnership Team for Heritage Presbytery. That work has let me walk alongside pastors and congregations through seasons of change,
some exciting and some hard. Along the way, I’ve found that God has been growing something in me. Helping a church stay steady, stay faithful, and discover where the Lord is leading next
has become work I love. I’m also working on a Doctor of Ministry focused on spiritual mentoring, because I’m passionate about helping people grow deeper in their walk with Jesus.

As I arrive at Templeton, I’m coming to listen, learn your story, pray with you, and help you discern together what God has ahead. A season of transition can be a real gift. It’s a time to
look back with gratitude, look honestly at where we are, and look forward with hope.

Pastor Joy grew up in the Midwest but has spent the last decade serving in full-time ministry on the West Coast—first in rainy Southeast Alaska, and most recently in sunny Southern California. She is ordained in ECO (A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians) and holds a Master’s in Theological Studies.

Joy is passionate about helping people discover what it means to live as deeply loved daughters and sons of God and to join in the everyday work of God’s redemption in the world. She brings a heart for discipleship, spiritual formation, and making space for meaningful community.

In her free time, Joy enjoys hiking, cheering on her favorite football teams, and taking photos on her adventures. She’s often found with a matcha or chai in hand, reading a good book, or daydreaming about which national park to explore next.

Hello! My name is Theodora Wilkie but everyone can call me Teddy.

I grew up and still live in Paso Robles with my family and I went to high school here in Templeton. I graduated in 2018 and later went on to attend Cuesta College. In 2023 I received my Associate’s Degree to be a Library Technician but in the same year I fell in love with Customer Service when I joined the Front Desk Team at the Paso Robles Inn. Since then, I grew into the Front Desk Supervisor position and eventually moved on and transitioned to the team at The Ava Hotel. In the coming year, I plan to continue my education and pursue a degree in Library Science.

Now I have had the wonderful opportunity to join the Front Office Team as the Admin Assistant with guidance from Julie Bower, who has since retired. I am excited to meet everyone and please feel free to stop by the office and say hi!

I'm a native Californian, originally from the central region, but I have lived up and down the state. After high school, I felt led to pursue formal ministry training, which has consisted of a two-year discipleship school, four year bible college, and a master's degree in Theological Studies. Those things are only significant to the extent that they were aimed at deepening my relationship with Jesus. And that is what that pursuit was anchored in, starting in those early years.

It has been my goal to always lead from that place of knowing Jesus. Music and praise have been a heartfelt expression of worship since I was young, and I first started leading worship in community prayer contexts during my teenage years. It is my passion to see each person in the family of God be established in their identity in Jesus and to grow in their God given gifts. As each individual flourishes in Jesus, the entire body of Christ benefits and thrives.

I enjoy being outdoors, whether hiking, spending time at the beach, or just spending time with people in nature. I value maintaining the temple God has given us for the purpose of service, so I embrace an active lifestyle, eating quality food, and exercising regularly.

The church is born out of a mission to go and make disciples. We help people to know they belong to God by demonstrating God’s love, showing God’s grace, and directing people to the way of Jesus. As Templeton’s oldest church, we have a legacy of service, including support for the unhoused and hosting multiple support groups as well as a Spanish-speaking congregation. Our youth programs, and community events reflect our commitment to make disciples of all nations. Our diverse congregation spans generations and backgrounds, united in love for God and one another. We strive to make everyone feel valued before God.

We are committed to biblical teachings, believing salvation comes by grace alone through faith in Christ. Our sermons and studies are rooted in Scripture, guided by trained leadership. We emphasize repentance, faith, and reliance on the Holy Spirit. We provide biblical instruction for all ages, offering children’s programs, youth Bible studies, and adult groups. Our goal is to help people understand and apply Scripture to their lives.

Discipleship is a life transformation process. We focus on making disciples who make disciples. Through mentorship, spiritual gifts, and prayer, we equip our congregation to spread the gospel locally and globally. We aim to develop leaders and establish new missional communities, bringing Christ’s message where it is needed. Though ambitious, we trust God’s guidance in fulfilling our calling.
